Social Media Week Lagos

At Social Media Week Lagos 2019, Animation Nigeria hosted its Women In Animation Workshop — a dedicated space created to celebrate, connect, and empower women shaping the future of Nigerian animation.

Held at one of Lagos’ most vibrant tech and media festivals, the workshop brought together female animators, creatives, and industry professionals for an afternoon of honest conversation, shared experience, and genuine community-building. The energy in the room was a testament to just how much talent exists — and how much more visible it deserves to be.

The Women In Animation Workshop was more than a panel — it was a declaration that women belong at the centre of this industry, not at its edges. For many attendees, it was the first time they had seen themselves reflected so clearly in the people at the front of the room.

This event remains one of Animation Nigeria’s most cherished initiatives, and it continues to inspire our commitment to building an industry that is inclusive, diverse, and stronger for it.
